In this portrait from the early days of Brunswick, circa 1900, are George Washington and Elizabeth Hester Ann Forrest Harrington and their granddaughter Mabel Carr. Mabel's mother died when she was just a year old and her father, Samuel, drowned in the canal in December of 1900, leaving Mabel an orphan. She was raised by her grandparents.
