Varsity coach Dan "Duck" McLane played basketball for Brunswick in the late 1970s and in my first year at the school I had him in my senior homeroom.<br />
<br />
The same is also true of another BHS alumni Vince Carey.<br />
<br />
I've always thought it was great to have former students who later went on to be the varsity coach of the sport they played while a student at Brunswick.<br />
<br />
Roger Dawson played baseball for Brunswick and now is the head coach of the team. What a change of perspective and responsibilities it is to go from being an individual team player to coaching an entire team.<br />
<br />
I think it speaks well of the school that former BHS players come back to coach sports they loved playing as students.<br />
