Mary Lavinia Hood<br />
A lifelong resident of Brunswick along with her sister and fellow teacher Georgia, Miss Hood began her teaching career at the Knoxville school before moving to the old West End Elementary school and finally the present Brunswick Elementary School. She retired in 1955. She also taught the Ladies' Bible Class at the First Methodist Church for many years. Miss Hood was instrumental in starting the Brunswick Public Library and served on the Frederick County School Board.<br />
