Joe B Eshbaugh: That could possibly be my Grandfather operating the crane, Melvin V. Thompson. He had the full time job of maintaining, repairing, and operating the "Big Hook", or Big Liz" as some called it. Back in the day, the Rail Road had a phone line that ran up the old Cinder Path right to his house on East B Street. I was told that every day at 7:00am and again at 7:00pm, the B&O would ring the phone just to make sure it was working.
When I was young, he would tell me stories about being out on derailments, and how he kept the crane clean and under fire.
