June Foster Mohler (1925 – 1995), Brunswick Distinguished CitizenDistinguished Citizen 1983 Brunswick: 100 Years of Memories (1990) Mohler, June Foster, Ph.D. (1925- ) Honored 1983 June Foster Mohler graduated from BHS in 1942 and earned degrees from University of Maryland, New York University, and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She has been a teacher, served as Vice President and General Manager of Design Research International and as home service director for Bendix Home Appliances. She was also co-founder and vice president of a New York merchandising firm and director of an investment company. In 1965 she became fashion director for Fieldcrest Mills and a member of the firm. In 1977 she became an associate professor at New York University, and in 1979 Dean of the School of Consumer Services at Winthrop College in South Carolina. She is co-author of “ Textile Fabrics and Their Selection,” and has served as a member of the Governor’s Task Force on the Economy for the State of South Carolina. Dr. JUNE VIRGINIA FOSTER MOHLER, 69, an Annapolis resident since January, formerly of Hudson, Ohio, died of cancer Saturday, March 18, at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. Born June 22, 1925 in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late John Stanley and Edna Deaner Foster.

Dr. Mohler attended Brunswick High School. She received her bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland in 1946, her master's from NY University in 1963 and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1975.

Dr. Mohler taught high school in Brunswick in 946. She was co-owner and executive vice president of Lee Ballard Association of New York from 1957 to 1961; director of sales training at Financial Planning Corp in New York from 1961 to 1965; and fashion director for Fieldcrest Mills in New York from 1975 to 1979.

She was also associate professor of retailing and textiles at New York University from 1977 to 1979; dean of consumer science and allied professions at Wintrop College, Rock Hill, SC from 1979 to 1986; and director of the Shannon Rogers/Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising and director of the fashion Museum at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, from 1996 to 1993.

Surviving are one son, R. Douglas Mohler of Annapolis; two sisters, Katy Foster Holzapfel, Hagerstown; and Shirley Foster Frye, Port Orange, Fl.

Memorial services were held at St. Charles Parish, St. Paul's Chapel, Crownsville; private interment was in Brownsville Church of the Brethren; arrangement were by the Hardesty Funeral Home, Annapolis.
