He was a VP (or Assistant Principal) at Brunswick for sixteen years starting in 1991 and lasting until 2007 when he retired from the FCPS system. Many of my FB friends as well as those students, teachers, and administrators on the BHS Throw Backs page remember Tom as a familiar smiling face in the front office, walking the halls of the school, eating in the cafeteria, or supervising various after school activities. Tom had a grin that was both warm and friendly with a dash of mischievousness thrown in.

Tom had been in the FCPS system twenty-five years before he came to BHS. Before coming to the Brunswick he had been a VP at Linganore High School and I believe he had also served as a principal at the Outdoors’ School. He considered BHS to be the best school in the county.

Probably one of the best words to describe him would be “laid-back” as he seldom got angry with students, their parents or teachers.

He was also a flirt and had a bulletin board in his office covered with photos of students many of whom were or had been office aides. The overwhelming majority of these photos were of female students. When I use the word flirt I don’t mean it in a derogatory manner but rather he took great joy in teasing and playing tricks on many of the female office student aides and well as the adult office staff.

He was one of the finest administrators I ever had the pleasure to work with at BHS ;=)!
