From Facebook: Judy Young: This is my grandmother and great-grandmother. I've always heard such wonderful things about them. Its a shame I never got a chance to know them. Fran died when I was a baby. Apr 3, 2010
Eleanor Kerr: Fran New did my hair!!! I remember her beauty parlor VIVIDLY. My grandmother loved her. Thank for posting this picture!! The shop in her house. Wood paneled and red chairs. Apr 3, 2010
Jane G. McMurry: Frannie lived around the corner from me on A street. I don't know where her old shop was but I was born in '51 and grew up with Mark and Marsha. Boy did we get in trouble. Had too many eyes up on that street - they snitched on us and we got our bottoms beat. Ah those days are ancient now. Apr 3, 2010.
Carl Metzgar is a cousin of mine. His mom and dad live in the house on the corner behind Frannie. I'm actually related Gail. I lived at 6 1st Avenue in the yellow house in the alley until 1963. Apr 9, 2010
Chris Wentzel: Fran News was a neighbor (that's the Weitzel house over their shoulders in the picture), and she always had candies to hand out to kids in the neighborhood. Apr 3, 2010
Peter Wenner: The house on the corner was Pickle and Frances Manuel's house. Pickle sat put on the porch and made funny comments to passersby when they stopped to talk. I recall a few of those after church. Apr 3, 2010
