Emanuel Holland was the longtime custodian at the B&O YMCA. He's pictured here with his wife Edna in their home in Brunswick in a 1958 news clipping on Mr. Holland from the Frederick News-Post.

Smoketown History (Brunswick, Md.) A few years ago, the Citizen reported that a cuff link with the initials DEH was found on the site of the old Y. Dad wrote that it probably belonged to David Emmanuel Holland. Edna cooked for my grandparents for years and baked the best pies and rolls i've ever eaten. She was part of our family. I was already away when she died way up in her 80s (or so we think because she lied about her age ; )), but my mother said the choir at the AME church "rocked her up to heaven". Said it was the most joyous funeral she ever attended....Peter Wenner
