From Facebook: oEllen Morsberger Fisher: This photo is when the Women of the Moose took over running the town. I'm not sure the date but it appears to be late 30's early 40's. Nellie Roby was the Police Chief. She took her job very seriously too. It was reported she entered Cooper's Tavern (alone) to arrest someone that day.
The Brunswick, 100 Years of Memories mentions it, but there is no date. It mentions Virginia Anderson as Mayor and Dot Burns as Councilman. It also states the Police Dept did not function that the Women called the Sheriff's Dept, but that's not how the family story goes. Feb 27, 2010
