Alvey Dayton Keenan moved to Brunswick as a child and worked on the railroad as an electrician. He entered the Army infantry in 1917 and participated in the Meuse-Argonne offensive in France. He was killed in action,the first Brunswick soldier to die in World War I. The Brunswick American Legion, Post 96, is co-named for this local hero.
