From Brunswick: 100 Years of History (1990) The man who became known as “Mr. Brunswick” had a 50 year railroading career, much of it as Terminal Trainmaster here. James E. Cummings moved into Brunswick politics in 1952 as a councilman, and was elected mayor in 1954, serving until 1966. He was also called “the man who took Brunswick out of the mud,” as completion of the paving of the town’s streets was accomplished during his administration
