Local kids would participate in a Christmas pageant acting out the "Christmas Story". During the Christmas season, local kids got to see Santa in various locations, including the town tree next to the bridge and in other locations around town, especially the churches. When Santa arrived, each child would receive an orange and a box of hard candies. Please feel free to share your memories of these Christmas pageants in churches and in other locations around town. Now residential, the 3 buildings on E. Potomac Street were occupied (from left) by businesses such as Mulkey’s Maytag Repair, Harrington’s Shoe Repair, a pool room. the building in the middle was where Dr. Strother had his office in the 1940s, Frank Wenner’s barber shop was in the building on the far right in the’60s. Her husband Garland Grams sold Buicks at the family service station on Petersville Road.
