Brunswick: 100 Years of Memories Hogan, Mary Virginia Hymes (1847-1930) Honored 1980 In 1886 Mary Virginia Hymes became Postmistress, a post she held until 1889. The Hymes residence was on the corner of North Virginia Avenue and “B” Street, on lots obtained from Joseph L. Smith, son of Leonard Smith, founder of the town. As Mrs. Michael Hogan, she was the mother of Samuel Thomas, George, and Ellen (Miss Ella) Rosalie. She was a daughter of the late Samuel L. and Barbara Rhoads Himes.
She is survived by a son and a daughter, S. Thomas Hogan, Brunswick, and Miss Ella R. Hogan, at home.
Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church; interment was in Park Heights Cemetery.
