Brunswick: 100 Years of Memories (1990) Hood, George Alex (1862-1944) Honored 1977 George Alex Hood married and moved to Brunswick in 1891 to begin work as a foreman for the newly expanded B&O yards. In 1918 he organized and became Scoutmaster of BSA Troop No. 2 of Brunswick, the second Boy Scout Troop in the State, and in 1919 he organized the Boy Scout Summer Camp. In 1922, he and his daughters, Lavenia and Georgia, organized the first Girl Scout Troop in Frederick County.

The Daily News June 8, 1944 George A. Hood George Alexander Hood, well known retired railroad man, died Wednesday afternoon at his home, 314 West Potomac Street, Brunswick. A native of Frederick, he was born March 12, 1861, a son of the late George and Mary Baer Hood. His wife, Mrs. Margaret Ann Jones Hood, predeceased him.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, Brunswick and is survived by two daughters, Misses Georgia and Lavenia Hood, at home. Funeral services will be conducted at the late residence Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock by Rev. Norman L. Trott. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, this city. Jesse S. Dailey, Funeral Director.
