She became Commander of Steadman-Keenan Post 96, the first lady commander of an American Legion Post in Maryland. She presented hand-crocheted Centennial Flags to Governor Marvin Mandel, PresidentJimmy Carter, the State of New Jersey and Fort Monmouth, N.J. Mrs. Hamilton has managed an apartment complex in Frederick and does volunteer work.
