Mayor Richard Goodrich Mayor 1990 - 1994 Birth date: Nov. 12, 1941

Mayor Goodrich was born in Hagerstown, MD but lived in Brunswick all his life. In fact, he has lived in the same house on East C St. since 1947. He and his wife have been married for 54 years. He, his wife and their two children all graduated from Brunswick High School. He is from a railroad family and loved riding on the steam engines with his father who was an engineer. He liked the small town atmosphere whereby everybody helped each other.

Becoming Mayor was not one of his dreams. It came about when the town was not moving in the right direction and the citizens wanted a change. What he enjoyed most about being Mayor was meeting with the people and listening to their concerns. With his background in finances, he was able to bring about changes in handling the tax payer’s monies. He is proud of the funding that he initiated for the city park building, a new water plant and getting the fire company their ladder truck.
