Summary

Brunswick girl receives thank-you note from the president
By Heather Mongilio from The Frederick News Post, October 11, 2018

When Cristina Izzi received a letter from the White House, she thought it was junk mail.

Her daughter, Trinity, 7, had begged her to send in two paintings they did — one was of the White House — and a letter to President Donald Trump for his and Melania Trump’s birthdays. But Cristina Izzi was hesitant.

“I honestly did not think she would get anything back,” Izzi said. “I thought it would get lost in the mail.”

But a few months after sending in the pictures, Trinity received a note from Trump thanking her for her letter.

“Mrs. Trump and I are inspired by your kind words and the support we receive from thoughtful young students like you across America,” according to the letter.

The letter also encourages Trinity to continue to do her best and keep learning, as well as “never, ever give up.” It also said that she has a lot of support from people who love her.

Izzi said Trinity has been painting since she was 2, and at 7, Trinity is already strong-willed. She pushed her mother to mail the letter. Izzi said she wasn’t sure if she would mail it because she didn’t think she would get a response back.

The letter means a lot to her daughter, she said, and it’s something she’ll never forget.

“She’s like, ‘Can I be president one day?’ That’s what she said when she got it,” Izzi said.

Trinity is a Trump fan, and even though she can’t vote yet, she wanted to accompany her mom to the polls.

“She stands up for what she believes in,” Izzi said.

The family was excited to receive the letter, Izzi said, adding that her mother was overjoyed when she heard. Izzi also filmed Trinity for a YouTube clip of her reading the letter. It has also persuaded other family members to reappraise the president.

Izzi said getting a letter showed her Trump’s genuineness. Trinity said she wants to send him another picture.

“She might be president one day. Who knows?” Izzi said. “She’s very ambitious.”
