Brunswick: 100 Years of Memories (1990) Harrington, Col. Phillip Lance (Ret.) (1939- ) Honored 1985 During his years in the Marine Corps after 1958, “Lenny” earned degrees at Auburn University and the University of Southern California. One hundred twenty missions as a helicopter pilot in Viet Nam and several injuries netted him the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (five awards), Purple Heart and many more decorations. Phillip Lance Harrington served on the Presidential Commission on Defense Management and was the Marine Corps representative to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City.
