Working up from clerical jobs, he became Director of Freight Claims, later held General Manager positions at Detroit and Cincinnati, and was AVP-Line Operations at Cleveland. Retiring from Chessie in 1986 as AVP-Claims and Casualty Prevention Administration, he became a consultant to the Maryland Midland Railway
