Kimberly Smrcka: This brings back great memories! I still remember the night my Dad drove us down as close as you could get, when we heard that the YMCA had caught fire. The road never looked the same after it was gone.

Reuben Moss: I don't believe this is 1924, but instead maybe sometime in the '40s. The Y was originally a rectangular 2 story structure as is seen in other photos, and in the mid 20s was expanded to the 3 stories with wings. At the time the building was B&O "Indian Red" and brown, as is seen in the late 1930s photo with the passenger train passing by. The B&O switched to the Cream and Brown/Cream and black scheme (the yellow) in the 1940s, and the Y was always the last to be painted. If it had stood later than it did it probably would have worn CSX tan and blue since the station and WB Tower had.
