Summary

Martha (Mattie) Sigafoose VanOsdale and canine friend on the front steps of sister Lena Troxell's house on Maryland Ave before the right-of-way was built for the present Potomac River bridge. Interesting to see how much Maryland Avenue changed to make way for the bridge.

Note to her left the paved open space at the foot of West B Street where the town held its annual carnival, Christmas Tree and other celebrations. Feete's Funeral Home is directly behind her. on Petersville Road The long building on the far left, which was razed for the construction of the 1955 Potomac River Bridge, was Hahn's Restaurant and Beer Garden on East B Street, run by Harry & Bessie Hahn. According to Geri Best, "the BHS upper classmen composed a little jingle about it."

The building on the right with the Chesterfield cigarette billboard was used as a warehouse by the Feete family for their funeral business. Geri Best wrote that "it housed antique hearses."
