This was back when Burkittsville was served by 3 stores selling gas, groceries and other items. It's cut off, but you can see the Gordon's store sign across the street to the left.

Garland Guyton owned and operated this general store from the 1930s until it closed in the late-1970s. Prior to Guyton's proprietorship, the store was owned by the Hightman and later Huffer families.
