Summary

Interview with James George CPS

Tell us a little about you. I grew up in Brunswick during the 60's and 70's when Brunswick was a thriving little railroad town. I caught my share of catfish out of the Potomac and hunted on most of the farms just outside of town. I played my Little League, Babe Ruth League, and High School baseball in Brunswick. I currently live and work in Jefferson.

How long have you have you been a CPA? I passed the CPA exam in 1984. I worked for 2 different CPA firms in Montgomery County before starting my own practice in October of 1991.

What do you hope for the future of your business? I want to add more business advisory services to my practice. As a CPA I work with a lot of business owners, discuss the challenges their businesses face and help them develop solutions. Each business and each situation is different. I enjoy the variety and get a lot of satisfaction from assisting other business owners in achieving their goals.

Tell me something interesting about you or your company. About six years ago I received the Sidney Weinberg award from the Maryland Society of Accountants for my work as Chairman of an Annual retreat for firm owners. It is the highest award given by the Society and one of the highlights of my career.

When did you joined GBACC and why? I joined GBACC in 2012 as a means of networking with other businesses and promoting my practice. Over the years I have grown to appreciate the camaraderie and relationships I have developed through GBACC. My GBACC involvement has given me many good memories of good times with good people
