Summary

This photo is from 2005 and shows the teachers and aides of the BHS Special Education Department. Special Education classes at Brunswick were designed to help students get more "one on one" learning, but aside from regular course work on subjects such as Math and English these students were also given the chance to find various ways to help the school overall. Every morning they sold cookies to BHS students, put on car washes for teachers, and helped the school in numerous other ways. In that capacity, they didn’t learn just normal school subjects; they also learned valuable lessons in life. Like all students in high school, when asked what they enjoyed most about being at BHS, Rusty replied “The library,” Ryan said “My teachers,” while David stated it was “The Girls.” Bev Shaffer, Jan Fischbach, and Gail Rudisill are now retired. I know that Dawn Chrisinger and Chris Clark are still working at the school, and I think that both Ms. Robertson and Ms. Lynn are also. On a personal note, Bev Shaffer sold sodas from her room to help raise money for the annual trip she took her students on each year. Each day I always bought at least one diet soda from her and she always made sure there were cold ones for me in her refrigerator.
