Summary
The antebellum former Trinity Lutheran Church near the corner in Knoxville is now a private residence. The 1848 stone church was moved from its original location in Weverton to this site in 1873. According to Reuben Moss, the church was originally located along Weverton Road just west of where Rt. 340 parallels the railroad tracks. When it was relocated following the Civil War, Knoxville was a busier outpost than Berlin before the B&O moved its operations there in 1890 and the town was renamed Brunswick. The building remained a place of worship until the 1990s. Just visible to the left was where children attended Sunday School. In the early 2000s, the old church was remodeled as a rustic country getaway just a brisk walk along the Potomac River from the tourist attractions in Harpers Ferry, WVA.
