Summary

Here's a photo of a family gathering at a river camp from what appears to have been the 1940s.

The Potomac River offered an easy and cost-effective Summer getaway for local families during the Great Depression/World War II era.

Looks like a volleyball or badminton net on the right.

Jacquelyn Ebersole Robert Rickard would be Sonny Rickards son. Sonny married into the Smith family. I will have Pat Smith look at this picture. I believe that is her father-in-law reclining in the front of the picture. This picture must have come from the Duane, Lee Smith collection.

Doris Kelley Barker I agree with Jackie. I know our neighbors on w. Potomac Street, Freda Smith and her husband, Lee and Floyd had a cabin down there every summer at the camp grown. I think it is Lee & Floyds with white blonde hair on the front row. It doesn’t look like Freda but I never knew her when Lee was just one year younger than I. I bet it could have come from my dear friend, Duane. I know Freda’s family had been Spurrier and the Burgees across from us on N. Delaware Avenue were related to all of them and it could be those families with the Smiths & they came from some little town on the Baltimore highway, a long way from Baltimore in our direction.
