Summary
A view up Potomac Street looking west in 1949. Note the Horine's building on the left. The liquor store is now the home of Public Spectacle.
The long-gone businesses on the square corner at the time on the right side of E. Potomac starting with Ephraim's Liquors are The Lace Store, Darr's Tavern, S.N. Katz and Bank of Brunswick.
This photo is believed to have been from an article in the old Washington Star newspaper. The two young men standing in front of the store are Marty Mock and Gerald Stewart.
Richard Bowers: Ephraim's Liqours sold tropical fish, too
As a bonus, Irv Ephraim would quiz us kids to test our IQ. Think he was in Mensa....Pete
