When one thinks of a championship team, leadership, teamwork, and determination come to mind. The 2001 Varsity Baseball Team proved to everyone that it had what it takes.

The Railroaders finished as regional champs and 1A State Finalists, with an overall season record of 14 wins and only 3 losses. BHS defeated Catoctin, Williamsport, Boonsboro, FSK, and Smithsburg in both of their match ups. In their one game match ups, the team defeated N. Hagerstown, S. Hagerstown, and Middletown. The team lost both of their games against Walkersville, and its one game against Urbana.

Justin Tucker stated that “the season went well because of our pitching and key hitting in many clutch situations.” Steve Swank’s view of the season was “It is such a great achievement to make it where we did and everyone hopes we can keep going.”
