Summary

This photo is from the 2008-09 BHS Yearbook and shows the members and coaches of the Varsity Basketball Team.

The team had a winning season with a record of 14-4 and in a game against FSK scored 100 points. This earned the team a ranking of 59th out 277 schools in state of Maryland.

Although Brunswick is known for its football and baseball programs, basketball was always a well developed program in its own right.

Varsity coach Dan "Duck" McLane played basketball for Brunswick in the late 1970s and in my first year at the school I had him in my senior homeroom.

The same is also true of another BHS alumni Vince Carey.

I've always thought it was great to have former students who later went on to be the varsity coach of the sport they played while a student at Brunswick.

Roger Dawson played baseball for Brunswick and now is the head coach of the team. What a change of perspective and responsibilities it is to go from being an individual team player to coaching an entire team.

I think it speaks well of the school that former BHS players come back to coach sports they loved playing as students.
