Summary

Many of us remember the Blade-Times newspaper in a form factor similar to The Brunswick Citizen, which ceased publication in 2020. At one time it was a broad sheet.

Since Editor & Publisher Henry (Cap) Rinker was underaged when he started the Brunswick Blade, he always retained his father's name--K.I. Rinker & Son--as publishers on the masthead.

Here is an example from November 22, 1945, almost three months after the end of World War II and 18 years to the day before President Kennedy was assassinated.

This newspaper, which was addressed to Mrs. T. West Claggett, featured a story on the right of her husband Air Force Major Thomas West Claggett, who had been placed on inactive duty following the war. On the left is an editorial on the American post war situation as Brunswick approached the Thanksgiving holidays. It was written by Myer Kaplon, who wrote under the pen name of EMKAY. Other front page articles addressed newly elected officers of the Brunswick-Potomac Rod and Gun Club and an article on Christmas funds to be paid out by local banks.
