Summary

A view from the bridge at Christmas season, looking up W. Potomac Street toward the water gap, circa 1955. While the north side of the street looks almost the same except for the old miniature golf course in the parking lot by the Mace Building (at the time where W.B. Wenner sold household appliances and TVs; now King’s Pizza), most of the southside up to Pete & Wanda Nuse’s old house is gone, destroyed by fire.

Wenner's City Meat Market is on the lower left where the Ambulance Company is today. Heading west from the store are Hudson’s Rowhouses, the Hovermale Building, which housed Harrington's Shoe Repair and before that grocery stores, next to Mills’ Confectionary, and the Imperial Theater.

John D. Hahn: My address was 216 west Potomac st , one of the Hudson's row houses. The Ambulance company bought the property in the 1970's and the houses were brought down in a control burn with the fire company overseeing it.
