Summary

This photo is from the 1991 BHS Yearbook and shows the members of the JV Cheerleading Squad.

In 1991, school secretary Linda Lucas took over as advisor to the Cheerleading squads and under her direction the program became more rigorous and demanding. One of the changes she brought was to start Cheerleading practices in the first week of June rather than the usual start in July.

The JV Squad went to camp in July to learn new techniques and returned from camp with a more updated style with sharper arm motions, clearer chants, and more complex pyramid formations.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Linda had been a Cheerleader when she attended Brunswick High School.

To help pay for the cost of camp, the squad members held cake raffles and car washes.

Along with the Varsity Squad which held a game booth at the Jefferson Carnival over a thousand dollars were raised during the summer to defray the cost of Cheerleading camp.

Front Row (L to R) - Jenny Bonesteel, Shanda Barnhouse

Middle Row - Sabrina Jones, Kelly Warfield, Danielle Moore

Top Row - Gina Nelson, Carrie Mulhern, Jody Simmons See Less
