Summary
BHS Class of 1911-- The 2 young ladies in the middle back row were Ann Wenner (Van Bebber) on the left and E. Virginia (Patty) Wenner on the right.
Most old timers in Brunswick knew Miss Patty for her role terrorizing kids as BES principal, but sister Ann was formidable in her own right, as well as beautiful. "She turned the boys heads on Potomac St", according to her brother Bill.
Ann moved to Kansas in her 20s along with younger sister Margaret to teach school and retired as most young women did in those days when she married a local pharmacist, who died relatively young. Ann raised 4 children largely as a single mother and eventually became postmistress of Troy, KS. Her son Thomas Van Bebber lived with the aftermath of polio and became a U.S. Federal Judge from Kansas. In the late '90s, Judge Van Bebber presided over the conviction of Michael Fortier in the Oklahoma City bombing case.
