Jaime George: my dad talked about how the train stopped in Brunswick on his way from boot camp to California & the pacific in ww2. he stopped by one of the establishments (can't remember which) & told the bar keep he knew there that he didn't know if he was ever coming back. the bartender gave him 3 gallon jugs of beer and they had a grand time on the train.
Kathy Moser Stowers: when my aunt Bunny Lowery powers worked at the YMCA,she would take her salary & buy Hershey bars & give them out to the guys on the troop trains going to war. they would be on a long train just opposite Potomac st. My mom said it was so sad to see all these young people going. crowds gathered all along the Tracks.
