This extended Funk family photo was taken on July 4, 1910, in front of the home of family patriarch Veniah Benjamin Funk at 118 First Avenue. V.B. Funk played Uncle Sam in the Brunswick Fourth of July parade.

V.B. Funk was once a supervisor on a mail train. When he brought the family to Brunswick, he was a supervisor at the mill at Millville, WV. In 1914, he was a candidate for Mayor of Brunswick, but his name was withdrawn when he died.
Harry B. Funk and his son John B. Funk are Brunswick Distinguished Citizens. H.B. Funk was a successful contractor who erected many of Brunswick's finest structures, including the Kaplon Building, Red Men's Hall, First Methodist Church, West End School and many private homes in Brunswick, Rosemont and Lovettsville.
John B. Funk served as Brunswick City Engineer from 1932-1984. He also served in the Maryland Assembly for 12 years and as Maryland Secretary of State. Additionally, he was Chairman of the State Planning Commission and Director of the State Roads Commission.
Eva Funk married Richard Magalis and is remembered as a beloved grade school teacher for generations at the old East End School and Brunswick Elementary School.
