GEORGE ERNEST AMBROSE, for many years chief of police of Brunswick, died Friday morning at Schnauffer Hospital in Brunswick following an illness of eight months. He retired from the Brunswick police in the early part of the year, and since then has been engaged as a watchman in a Brunswick factory, he was well-known throughout the county.
Surviving are his wife, Lena Pearl Rohrer Ambrose; several children, Mrs. Wilma Sigafoose, Brunswick; Dewey H. Ambrose, chief of police of Charles Town, W.Va.; Ernest Ambrose, Mrs. Pearl Gosnell and Doris Ambrose, Brunswick; and by the following brothers and sisters, C. William Ambrose, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; Mrs. Fairy Yost, Mrs. May Yost, Mrs. Elizabeth Hovermale, all of Oakland, W.Va.
Funeral services were conducted at the Brunswick Methodist Church with town officials activing as pallbearers; interment was in Park Heights Cemetery; arrangements were by Charles H. Feete and Bro., funeral directors.

Eventually he became Assistant Chief of Police, and in 1937, Chief of Police. From 1926 to 1941 he was the sole operator of the Police Department’s motorcycle.
