Summary

Glenn (Red) McQuillen was the only baseball player from Brunswick to reach the major leagues. He played for the old St. Louis Browns, a franchise that later became the Baltimore Orioles.

His MLB career spanned from 1938-47, cut short by World War II. Red and his brothers Carl and Jack also played football on Sonny Cannon's town team in the 1930s.

Smoketown History (Brunswick, Md.) While Red's MLB numbers were modest at best in limited time with the Browns, he put up some nice numbers in the minors (he played for the old Int'l league Orioles in 1949 and hit 24 HRs. He played professionally until he was 41.
