According to the website: "From the 1920s until the late-1970s, three general stores operated in Burkittsville, each selling groceries, hardware, work clothing, housewares, and gasoline. Gordon's Store, located in the town's oldest commercial building, closed in the early-1970s. Today, this building has been preserved and operates at the P.J. Gilligan Mercantile, a mid-19th century period general store. From the museum collection."
