Kim Myers This was the shop on Potomac Street across from the fire hall. I'm guessing sometime after 1964 when Bill Harrington passed away. Donald returned to Brunswick from Berkeley Springs to run the shop after Bill died.
Abbie Strawsburg Ricketts Abbie Strawsburg Ricketts My father would eat dinner at the Berlin and then go across to sit and talk at Mr. Harrington's shoe shop for a few minutes until the awful day the building burned to the ground. I remembered the men gathered to talk but Mr. Harrington was always busy repairing shoes. He always had old calenders on the wall just where they are in this photo.
Smoketown History (Brunswick, Md.) Loved when my mom would send me in to pick up shoes. I'd listen to the men talking while i waitied for Mr. Harrington to pull my parents' shoes from a pile. Dad always said not to count on the fact any of the stories i'd heard were true...Peter
Smoketown History (Brunswick, Md.) Just wanted to add that Amos Kaplon and Chum Mills were excellent Brunswick baseball players. The NY Giants wanted Mr. Kaplon to sign with them, but Uncle Vic compelled him to come home to manage the store....Peter
