Summary

This photo taken sometime after the bridge was dedicated in 1955 shows how far into disrepair the old C&O canal lock 30 had fallen.

See the small bridge that you crossed to get to the ferry before the larger river bridges where built. It was later the way to boat ramp and towpath and was still the only way to get there even into the 1970s. Frankie Foster remembers there were crossties on side for railings back then.
