SMOKETOWN ROTARY CLUB SPONSORS MOBILE SCIENCE LAB

For the third consecutive year the Rotary Club of Smoketown, Brunswick, Maryland is sponsoring the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation’s Mobile Science Lab at Brunswick Elementary School. The “Ag in the Classroom” is stationed at the school for a week and a half, affording all classrooms the opportunity for hands-on learning, em-laying the scientific method. Schools select investigations that are integrated into their curriculum, ranging from water quality, wetlands and well contamination, to the foods we eat, healthy snacks, and environmentally-friendly products.

This year, the Smoketown Rotary Club led a collaborative financing initiative, aggregating charitable funds from the Smoketown Rotary Club, the Brunswick Lions Club, the Parent Teacher Organization of Brunswick Elementary School (BES), and the Brunswick Elementary School administration. The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, Frederick Maryland, the sponsoring Club of the Smoketown Rotary Club, seeded the funding of the Science Lab in its inaugural year three years ago, initiating a multi-year educational adjunct to the BES curriculum.
