Summary

In this photo of a Summer parade in the post-World War II era, we see a group of ladies in high heels riding the floorboards of what's believed to be an Independent Hose Company No. 1 fire truck in the 200 block of W. Potomac Street. Imagine trying that today?

Perhaps the ladies were members of the American Red Cross?

Note the old Knights of Pythias miniature golf house behind the truck. It was much smaller than it is today and wasn't yet connected to the house at 1 N. Virginia Avenue.
