Summary

The grain elevator (left) and flour mill (right) at Lock 30, c. 1900. The lock is behind these structures. The ramp leading to the old Brunswick Bridge is visible to the right.

The mill was run by B.P. Crampton & Co. at this time. Prior to that, it was known as Jordan, Crampton & Co. after the widow of C.F. Wenner sold her interest following her husband's death in 1882. It had been operated as Jordan & Wenner and in 1859 was spoken of as Berlin Milling Co.

Mortimer Wenner may have been the original mill owner, but Charles F. Wenner built the business prior to, during the Civil War and after.
